Dana Hamm - Amazing, and then some!

Beauty talks to the Beast
Dana Hamm's interview with Dr. D.

The insatiable Dana Hamm is one of the most successful print and pinup models of all time. Thanks to a wonderfully sculpted body, sultry green eyes, and luscious lips, Dana has been named the most photographed fitness models ever!

Dana began her career in fitness in 2000, gracing the covers of the world's top fitness magazines including: Muscle & Fitness, Muscular Development, MuscleMag International, Italian Fitness, Pump, Fitness Rx, Oxygen, Ultimate Athlete, and Planet Muscle. Dana brought a whole new light to fitness, because she was fitness model with mega curves and soft sex appeal. She opened the doors for other fitness models that preferred to portray an ultra-feminine version of health. Dana's dangerous curves earned her numerous layouts of up to over 32-pages! She has been featured in more individual magazine pictorials than any other fitness or pinup model alive.

Dr. D: Dana, let me start by thanking you on behalf of my self and my viewers. It's great to have you here. Why don't we start with you telling us about your childhood?

Dana: "I'm a native of North Carolina, I was born to an entrepreneur father and beauty queen mother, on August 31st. During my childhood, I attended private school and was quite a tomboy at heart. I loved to fish, freestyle on my BMX bike, and horseback ride rather than sit in the a/c and watch television. Around age 16 my body started to change (LOL). I excelled in high school, receiving top grades in fine arts, English and science. After graduating from high school, I attended college and earned my bachelors degree in Psychiatric Social Work."

Dr. D: Well, your studies in Psychiatric Social Work will be of great value on this site.

Dr. D: So, did all of those curves come naturally?

Dana: "Yes, I did help them along. During college, I became hooked on fitness training and devoted as much time to working out as I did to my schoolwork. I decided to put my good looks to work and aimed to start modeling."

Dr. D: We're all extremely pleased that you did. How did you go about it? Did you just sign up with an agency?

Dana: "No, I decided not to go through modeling agencies like Ford or Wilhelmina. Instead I appeared on a popular talk show (Jenny Jones) as one of America's fresh new faces. This television appearance helped me to gain notoriety and establish myself as a model. After the show aired I received a slew of inquiries and interests, everything from offers to become Playboy Playmate to appearances in movies such as "The Scorpion King" with The Rock."

Dr. D: I can certainly understand their interest. So tell us, which of the offers did you take?

Dana: "I struck-up a partnership with some of America's top glamour photographers and they did it all themselves. The team marketed me directly to companies and magazines in search of fresh talent. Today my team consists of about 7 and they are creating more buzz than ever with magazines, movies, products, appearances, and more."

Dr. D: So it's all hard work and no play? What do you do in your time off?

Dana: "No, it's work I love, and lots of play. In my spare time I enjoy wildlife photography and wilderness exploration. So far this year I've traveled to Alaska and Canada photographing Brown and Black bears as well as Bald Eagles and whales. Shockingly, in controlled environments I've also conduced photo shoots and posed with wild animals such as: Grizzly Bears, African Lions, Snow Leopards, and Tigers. "

Dr. D: I don't think we could find a more exciting model in front of the camera or behind it. Your experience with wild animals will be of benefit when my viewers start contacting you.

Dr. D: Tell us about some of the mainstream work you've done.

Dana: "Well, other than the fitness stuff, I've appeared in magazines like Stuff, The Girls of FHM, FHM Germany, FHM Australia, FHM Lithuanian, FHM Slovenia, Stun, The Sun, Maxim, Femme Fatales, UMM, Loaded, and more. I was also billed as the official swimsuit cover girl for the 2004 Cannes Film Festival. In 2004 I hosted the ESPN Canadian Strength Series as well as appeared on the runway in Miami as a top model for Bebe, Becca, Playboy, BluePoint, and Lucky Brand Jeans."

Dr. D: No doubt my viewers could easily be convinced to get into some of those Lucky Jeans. You know, this may sound weird, but I would swear I've seen your face somewhere.

Dana: "A strange, but interesting thing happened to the me in 2004. An employee at MGA Entertainment told my manager that my likeness was being used to create the infamous Bratz Doll. In fact, while researching the matter they discovered there was actually a doll in the Bratz Doll collection named "Dana". The facial likeness is staggering and even the dolls clothes are very similar to outfits I've worn in photo shoots."

Dr. D: I guess the cat is out of the bag about my doll collection. What comes next, other than your modeling? More dolls?

Dana: "I just launched my own product line of posters and calendars, which are currently sold in over 3,000 retail stores nationwide: Spencers, BMG Sony, Calendar Club, Sam Goody, Tower Records, and more. My posters and 2006 calendars appear along side the products of mega stars like Paris, Pamela, Carmen, Lindsay, and more."

Dr. D: I'm sure my viewers are going to rush out and buy a calendar. Is there anywhere they can do it online?

Dana: "Sure! They can buy them here."

Dr. D: And after that, what's next Dana?

Dana: "I'm preparing for my very first feature film, stay tuned! I've taken my acting career seriously. I applied and was accepted to the prestigious Strasberg Theatre Institute in NYC where a-listers like Angelina Jolie, Matt Damon, and Claire Danes also attended acting classes."

Dr. D: I don't get out to the movies much, but I'll definitely make an exception when your film comes out. Has all of this success gone to your head?

Dana: "I don't think so. I'm still down-to-earth. I could be found any day of the week walking the aisles of Walmart in search of cat food and home supplies."

Dr. D: I think you may have just caused a stampede on isle 13. I'm embarrassed to ask, but could you give us your measurements? (And send me a calendar?)

Dana: "I'll give you the measurements. The calendar you'll have to get yourself."
